Purple - Boss man sent this to the mailing list as our city was preparing for winter storm Xylia. We aren't a Waffle House Just a heads up. Yes, there is a storm coming. No, we will not be closing because of it. I have been here nearly 20 years and can't even fill one hand counting how many times we've closed due to snow. If you think you will have troubles making it to work tomorrow start planning now. ...(didn't mean to hit send yet). I will be out doing snow removal and can give rides for mos

Font - Evening-Turnip8407 - 2 hr. ago Be ready to come into work and waste half the time shoveling snow so that your coworkers can also get into work. This makes sense because I'm a loud rich person! Vote Reply Share

Font - bigvoicesmallbrain. 4 hr. ago I'm all for making an effort to be a grown-up and dealing with some snow. What I'm not for in any way is putting my life on the line trying to get to some job to make someone else rich. It's not worth someone sliding into me and totaling my car and/or killing me, no matter what I make.

Font - Jake-the-Wolfie 1 hr. ago Sir, with none of the due respect, if the weather outside is so bad that other stores are closing down because of it, then why do you think that your customers will drive through that awful weather just to buy whatever that you sell? trinkets

Font - eejm - 2 hr. ago I used to work for a very large mortgage company at their headquarters in the Midwest. Their policy regarding winter weather was equally draconian. I worked until 6:00 PM, and a major winter storm hit that afternoon. We were not allowed to leave under threat of a write up, even after the interstate was closed. I stayed, and it took me a couple of hours to make my usual 15-20 minute drive home.

Font - The next job I had was with the same company. The head of our area lived out in the country about 20 miles from our headquarters. In her mind, if she could get to work in bad winter weather, so could everyone else. While that sounds fair in theory, she also drove a $50K truck that handled well on snow. The grunts (me included) drove 5+ year old inexpensive cars that made driving in a foot of snow a challenge, to say the least. She also didn't have a city plow shutting her into her drivewa

Font - Tempism 3 hr. ago Haha everyone on shift that day should ask for help. Wonder how he will manage to be everyone's savior. I don't know what it is about these managers/owners that makes them lack even basic empathy for others.

Font - GenuinePGRatedFun91. 2 hr. ago Now would be a good time to have at your disposal an understanding between you and all your coworkers that extreme weather days are mass call off days/refusal to work days. Worker solidarity.

Font - Setting-Remote - 3 hr. ago I'm assuming this is fast food? I don't know who I hate more, this manager or the people who can't live without a burger for 24 hours.

Font - hankopotomus. 2 hr. ago My company loves to talk about safety and everyone making it home with no injuries, but absolutely refuses to close in blizzard conditions and ice storms.

Font - Newfie 1989. 2 hr. ago I worked retail a long time where I live. Super snowy area. They didn't close but they didn't hold it against anyone if they didn't make it because of weather. You didn't get paid though
